Financial assistance is available to South African citizens and children or adults with PWS will qualify depending on the income of the parents.

There are three types of grants applicable to children and adults with PWS:

• Child support grant for any child whose parents are not in the financial position to provide for him/her.

• Care dependency grant for a child between one and 18 years who has a disability confirmed by a medical doctor.

• Disability grant for an adult 18 and 59 years (if female) and 18 and 64 years (if male) with a confirmed disability.
